Episode 54: "We aren't a one-woman show - Asking for help in the little years." with Rachel Rambach

Today I was so happy to have Rachel Rambach back on the podcast.  You may remember her first episode in episode 16 where we talked about her son Parker's postpartum year.  Now that her daughter, Mia is one, I wanted to have her back on to talk about how that postpartum year was different than her first. Rachel is a board certified music therapist, business owner, blogger and fellow podcaster.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How her daughter flipped transverse during labor and then flipped back
  • Another plug for the importance of doulas!
  • Watching your oldest child become a sibling
  • Watching her business expand during her daughter's postpartum year
  • How we beat ourselves up for not being present enough
  • The challenge of caring for both kids at once
  • Letting go of the guilt of putting kids in childcare to allow more space for work
  • The importance of having people to help with your older child so you can bond with the new baby
  • The physical demands of these little years
  • The importance of asking for help - and particularly from your partner!

Make sure you check out Rachel's podcast, Guitars and Granola Bars as well as her business, Music Therapy Connections.

This week I’m so excited to be chatting with Lisa Druxman!  Lisa is the creator of the incredibly popular Fit4Mom exercise program, which includes Fit 4 Baby, Stroller Strides and their newer Body Back program.  Lisa also created the Motivating Mom Podcast, which I love, to give moms ‘the strength for motherhood.”  In this episode we talk a lot about fitness and health because that’s her specialty, and we also talk about taking time for ourselves as moms.  She has so many wise words and practical advice, and I love what she says about thinking about ‘How do we want this chapter of our stories to read?” New motherhood is such a short flicker in the span of a life, so I think that’s a perfect way to think about it! Enjoy!
