Childbirth, Breastfeeding & Postpartum Classes

The Birth of a Child is the Birth of a Family!

I am an International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) certified childbirth educator offering private and semi-private birth, breastfeeding and postpartum classes in the greater Sacramento area. My philosophy of birth is that it is a normal, beautiful, powerful and physiologic process and that ALL families have the absolute right to knowledge about all of the choices, options and alternatives they have when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth.  It is only with knowledge that you can make informed decisions about your care.  Classes are fun, encouraging, informative and inspiring!

This personal blog stems from the idea that Everyday we have a CHOICE. A choice to be happy. A choice to choose our actions and reactions. A choice to be kind to others and to ourselves. Even in the mess of life, love, friendship and motherhood. And each choice, for better or worse, propels us forward. Here you’ll read stories about motherhood, everyday life and all those little choices. The mess, the good, the bad, and the in-between.

The Postpartum Year: Tales from the Trenches in the First Year of Motherhood

With a huge influx of books and story collections on pregnancy, childbirth and parenting there is a huge gap in the market for the beauty and chaos that is the postpartum year, or the first year of motherhood.  Women spend months preparing for baby to arrive, and cramming for parenting like it’s a final exam, but little thought is put into what to expect during that precious first year. When they are knee deep in spit-up, unimaginable sleep deprivation and hormones rendering themselves living in a body that they no longer recognize, they are supposed to just carry on like nothing has changed. But everything has changed.  This anthology is a spin off from The Postpartum Podcast, and will be a collection of stories from real moms about the challenge and wonder that is the first year of motherhood.  Stories will be raw and real and the hope is that it will offer the new mom comfort and support and validation that you aren’t going through this alone.  All moms have experienced the same joy and tears that you have.  Learn More >
